Hi everybody. It's been a long time. I promise I've been reading all of your entries. I haven't been commenting because I feel like if I comment on one I should comment on all and I just don't have the time for that right now. I thought I was taking it easy this semester but everything just kind of exploded in my face so I'm trying really hard to figure out how to destress and give myself more time.
I changed my theme. I never thought I would change my elephants but I realized they were kind of dreary and vacant looking and my blog needed to perk up a bit. Fortunately I found another more colorful elephant layout! =D
I found a video of last year's Aparima. This is one of the two dances I will be performing this year. (It will be a different dance, but the style is Aparima). I'm psyched! The girl that the video focuses on is in the dance this year. She's amazing. One of the girls you can see in the video was my roommate for a bit freshman year, and she is a total sweetheart. I'm so glad I get to be in this dance this year and work with these amazingly talented people and learn this beautiful dance.
I hope you are all doing well. Hopefully I will find the time to update a little more often.
Finals are finished. I think I did pretty good. My drawing finals ended up really great. I wish I had a scanner so I could show you just how great they are, but photographs will have to suffice.
I can't decide whether to take Networking or The Logic of Language next semester. Suggestions?
So I survived the week from hell. I took my Biochem test, wrote my lab report, and now I'm totally ready to rock the rest of the semester. Tonight I started my final drawing series. I decided my theme would be drawings modeled after art from Dia de los Muertos.
The one on top is part of the final series, the one on the bottom was just me messing around to see if I could do it. The one intended for my final series is not finished yet, she needs a right hand and some more shading, and I'm going to color the Ipod bright red. In most Dia de los Muertos art I've seen, there's a huge contrast between the skeletons and their garish bright colored clothing, so I wanted to do that with the Ipod. It is titled "Every Day is Dia de los Muertos."And here is Paisley, dual wielding and wearing the most awesome Hello Kitty pajama pants ever to be made by hand. Yea!
I find the more an assignment intimidates me, the more I tend to shy away from it until it is almost too late. I think this aspect of my personality needs some work. I can't believe we are almost through half of the semester. This year is going so fast, but I'm so ready to be done and graduated!
Today has been a little stressful. In drawing we turned in our giant charcoal flower petals. He basically walked around the room critiquing and told me mine was done. At the end of class he told the people who weren't done to work on theirs more and those who were done essentially received an A. So that's good. The bad news was that we got our folders back of turned in works from last week, and every single piece I received an incomplete on, which means I either get to start over or do more hours on them. Luckily one of those drawing was in my sketchbook which he told us not to turn in, so I can discuss that with him. It's still frustrating, especially considering how many hours I put into one of the drawings that is now worthless to me.
Argh.
Today is a busy busy day for me. I've already gone to biochem, I must leave soon to do some quick sketches, then I have drawing. After drawing I'm supposed to man the German Club table for the Club Fair, and in between I need to pick up some bread and other food and figure out something to eat and eat it. I will be grateful to relax after six, when the club fair is over. Of course I also have to find time to do today's vox hunt.
