I don't get to make quilts very often because 1. I don't have enough money running around and 2. I don't need any more quilts. So my future mother in law has given me some red white and blue fabric she has. The pattern is pretty simple but it'll serve it's purpose. And none of those dreadful triangles to deal with! When I'm done piecing it together I'm going to give it back to her and she'll quilt it. After that it'll be sent off to a hospital and given to a wounded soldier.
I have learned a valuable lesson from working on this quilt, and that lesson is: triangles are hard! Wow. I had no idea. This is only the second quilt I've made, but the first one was much easier and looked so much better. That said, the quilt still looks pretty good, especially for my first quilt that's all triangles.
I hope he likes it. I know I kind of want to keep it for myself.
It's very high up, but I'm keeping the dresser and my bookshelf underneath it, so for the rest of the year I will be jumping to go to bed.
These are the pictures above my bed. If you click on the picture you can get a more detailed description by going to flickr.
This is the window above the head of my bed. I'm keeping Paisley here, and a lamp so I can have some light at night.
And here is my desk. I'm glad I found a place to keep the sewing machine. My textbooks are being kept under my bed on the bookshelf.
These are the posters at the end of my bed, above the laundry basket. I love Serenity and Firefly, and the Walk the Line poster is just so beautiful. I might put up The Constant Gardener instead though. Troy got me a ton of free movie posters while he worked at the theater.
I'm very glad to be settled and have everything in its place. Now I have no excuse but to start studying and doing my homework.
